About the Artist
Willa Kuynych-Griffith is an artist and painter based in the northeast, holding a BFA from Alfred University’s School of Art and Design. Willa’s art focuses mainly on oil on canvas and water-based media on paper, both of which are used to create abstract pattern-based paintings with references to the natural world.
The majority of Willa's work is highly based on her deep relationship with the natural environment and how systems and patterns of nature reflect societal systems and barriers, and how the impacts that these systems have on our bodies can be reflected through this ecocentric lens.
Driven by passion
“The goal of my paintings is not for the viewer to instantly understand the complexities of these societal systems being reflected in the environment, but instead for them to feel immersed in the spaces that these ideas have driven me to create.” — Willa Kulynych-Griffith
